Dec. 7, 2004 - The Washburn Lady Blues volleyball team was No. 16 in the final AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll, which was released Tuesday. The No. 16 ranking is the best final mark to finish a season in school history. The Lady Blues were as high as No. 15 during the season.

The Lady Blues finished 29-7 overall and made their second trip to the NCAA National Tournament in school history. Truman State finished second in the poll, while Central Missouri State finished ninth in the poll from the MIAA.

Washburn seniors Dani McHenry, Emily Foster and Katie Brandt were named to the AVCA Division II All-South Central Region team. McHenry was also named to the AVCA All-American third team.
