Oct. 26, 2004 - OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The MIAA announced Tuesday that Washburn's Dani McHenry was the Wilson/MIAA Volleyball Hitter of the Week.

McHenry, a 6-foot-0 senior from Topeka, Kan., averaged 6.35 points per game and hit .368 (60 kills, 11 errors, 133 attempts) as the No. 15 Lady Blues went 2-1 last week.

She hit .310 (18-5-42) and scored 19 points (18 kills, 1 solo block) in a 3-0 home sweep of Missouri Southern Oct. 20 to secure a berth in the MIAA Postseason Tournament. She also had six digs.

In a 3-0 sweep at Southwest Baptist last Friday (Oct. 22), McHenry hit .510 (14-1-25) and scored 15.5 points (14 kills, 1 ace, 1 block assist) while logging nine digs.

In a 3-1 loss at Pittsburg State, McHenry hit .348 (28-5-66) and scored 29 points (28 kills, 2 block assists) with 14 digs and an assist. The 28 kills is her season-high effort.

McHenry is a graduate of Tecumseh (Kan.)-Shawnee Heights High School, and transferred to WU from the University of Kansas following her freshman season.

Washburn, which is 23-5 and 10-4 in the MIAA, hosts No. 8 Central Missouri State 7 p.m. tonight in Lee Arena.
