Nov. 3, 2004 - The Washburn Lady Blues volleyball team was third in the latest NCAA Division II South Central Region rankings, which were released by the NCAA. Eight teams will compete in the South Central Region tournament Nov. 18-20 this season after the NCAA expanded the tournament field to 64 teams in eight regions.

Conference champions from the MIAA, the Gulf South Conference and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will earn automatic berths and five teams will earn at-large berths to the tournament at a site to be determined.

The Lady Blues, who are 27-5 overall and ranked No. 16 in the AVCA National Poll, host Missouri Southern 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in Lee Arena in the first round of the MIAA Postseason Tournament.
