Washburn sophomore setter Julie Sackman was named Wilson/MIAA Specialist of the Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Sackman, a 5-foot-10 sophomore from Blue Springs, Mo., hit .311 (18 kills, 4 errors, 45 attempts) and averaged 10.54 assists, 2.35 points, 0.54 blocks and 2.00 digs to help the Lady Blues to their best start in school history (8-0) with four wins at the Central Arkansas Invitational. She was also named to the Central Arkansas Invitational all-tournament squad with teammates Emily Foster and Katie Brandt.

She had 46 assists (11.50 per game) and 9.5 points (6 kills, 2 aces, 3 block assists) in a 3-1 victory over the host Sugar Bears Saturday (Sept. 4). Earlier in the day, Sackman had 35 assists (11.67 per game) with 7.5 points (5 kills, 2 aces, 1 block assist) and a .500 hitting percentage (5-0-10) in a sweep of West Alabama.

In a 3-0 win over Alabama-Huntsville Friday (Sept. 3), Sackman had 35 assists and 8.5 points (4 kills, 3 aces, 3 block assists).

She is a graduate of Blue Springs High School.
