The Washburn volleyball team had two players earn ACVA All-America honors, which was released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association Monday. Outside hitter Monica Miesner was a second team selection, while right side hitter Tessa Jones was named to the third team. Both were first team AVCA All-South Central Region selections. The duo joins Dani McHenry as the lone volleyball All-Americans in school history. Washburn finished the season 35-3 and won its second MIAA regular season title in school history.

Miesner, a 5-11 sophomore outside hitter from Florissant, Mo., led the team and was second in the MIAA with a 3.85 kills/game average to earn first team All-MIAA honors. She was also sixth in the MIAA with 4.45 points/game, eighth in aces with 0.34 a game and ninth in digs with 4.07 per game. Miesner was named MIAA Hitter of the Week Oct. 24 after averaging 14 kills per match and hitting .382 in three MIAA sweeps.

Jones, a 6-1 sophomore from Lee's Summit, Mo., was seventh in the MIAA with 4.43 points a game, eighth in hitting at .285, eighth in kills per game at 3.58 and seventh in aces with 0.41 a game to earn first team All-MIAA honors. She was named MVP of the MSSC Invitational and Colorado School of Mines Tournament and was named MIAA Hitter of the Week Aug. 29 after hitting .432 at the MSSU Invitational. She was also named to the All-South Central Regional all-tournament team.
