TOPEKA - The No. 9 Washburn Lady Blues topped Central Missouri State 25-30, 30-27, 30-18, 30-28 in Lee Arena Tuesday night.

Washburn, which trailed 14-3 in game four, rallied and took its first lead of the game 29-28 on a block by Monica Miesner and Mandi Cox. The duo teamed up for another block seconds later to seal the victory. The Lady Blues finished with 13 of the game's last 15 points after trailing 26-17.

Washburn fell behind early and never recovered in game on as CMSU hit .240 to take the game. The Lady Blues rallied to win game two before putting it on the Jennies in game three. Washburn hit .312 compared to Central's -.024 in the third game to set up the victory.

The Lady Blues were led by 19 kill-performance by Tessa Jones, which was one shy of a career high. Erica Cowhick had 43 digs, which is a school record since the start of rally scoring. Carolyn Raynes, making her first career start at setter, had 54 assists and 11 digs.

Washburn, which improved to 17-1 and 6-1 in the MIAA, heads to Emporia State 7 p.m. Saturday night. ESU is 15-1 and 4-1 in the MIAA.
