OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Washburn freshman setter Andi Moran was named MIAA Volleyball Specialist of the Week by the conference office Monday. Truman's Kelsey Wackerman was named MIAA Hitter of the Week.
Moran, a 5-foot-11 freshman from St. Louis, Mo., averaged 14.60 assists, 2.20 digs and 1.40 kills while hitting .414 (14 kills, 2 errors, 29 attempts) as the seventh-ranked Lady Blues wrapped up their second MIAA regular season title with two conference wins among three overall last week.
She dished out a career-high 72 assists 14.40 apg) in the clinching 3-2 win at Central Missouri State last Tuesday (Oct. 25). Moran also added 12 digs, two blocks (one solo) and four kills. The win gave WU its first-ever sweep of CMSU in regular season play, and first win in Warrensburg since 1996.
Moran played just two games of WU's 3-0 home sweep of Benedictine (Kan.) Thursday (Oct. 27), and had 26 assists (13.0 apg) to go with five kills, five digs and a block assist.
In a 3-0 home sweep of Emporia State Saturday (Oct. 29), Moran collected 48 assists (16.00 apg) with five kills, five digs and a block assist.
Moran is a graduate of Mehlville High School.
