Jones named to AVCA all-region team

Junior rightside hitter Tessa Jones was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association all-South Central Region team announced Tuesday. Earning spots on the honorable mention squad were junior libero Erica Cowhick and junior middle hitter Mandi Cox.

Jones led the Lady Blues with 3.74 kills and 4.36 points a game while Cowhick became Washburn's career digs leader with 1,642 after having 901 during the year. That single-season total was also a school and MIAA record. Cox led WU with a .298 attack percentage and was second with 2.98 kills per game.

Jones will now have a chance to repeat as an AVCA All-American. She earned third-team honors last year.
