Gassen named to Academic All-District second team

Washburn Lady Blues volleyball senior Jill Gassen was named to the Verizon College Division Academic All-District VII second team, which was announced Friday morning.

Gassen, a senior from Higginsville, Mo., has accumulated a 3.84 GPA in business administration at Washburn and was a third team Academic All-District selection the previous two seasons.

Gassen finished the 2000-01 season by breaking two Washburn career records with 1732 kills and 181 solo blocks. She also finished second in Washburn history with 549 total blocks. For the season, Gassen broke her career best mark with 461 kills, which was also the fifth highest total in team history. She also tallied 128 total blocks, 259 digs and 41 service aces.

Gassen was an all-conference pick each of her four seasons at Washburn and was a first team selection in 2000.
