The Washburn Lady Blues landed two players on the All-MIAA volleyball team, which was announced Wednesday afternoon. Senior middle hitter Jill Gassen (Higginsville, Mo.) and senior defensive specialist Katie Ksiazek (Plattsmouth, Neb.) earned honorable mention honors for the Lady Blues. Gassen finished the season by breaking two Washburn career records with 1732 kills and 181 solo blocks. She also finished second in Washburn history with 549 total blocks. For the season, Gassen broke her career best mark with 461 kills, which was also the fifth highest total in team history. She also tallied 128 total blocks, 259 digs and 41 service aces. Gassen was an all-conference pick each of her four seasons at Washburn and was a first team selection in 2000. Ksiazek finished the season with 231 digs (2.54 dpg) in her second season with the Lady Blues after transfering from Iowa Western Community College in 2000.
