The Washburn Lady Blues fell 3-0 (30-27, 30-20, 30-21) to Emporia State in Lee Arena Wednesday night.
Washburn took command early, but faltered in the opening game and lost 30-27 to give momentum to the Hornets.
Jill Gassen led the Lady Blues with 14 kills, while Ashley Smith tallied a career-high 13 digs. Gassen, who broke the school record for solo blocks on Saturday, stands just nine kills away from breaking Mandy Chester's school record of 1,613 career kills.
Washburn is back in action Friday at Missouri Southern at 7 p.m.
