Blues split matches at Henderson State Tourney

The Washburn Lady Blues split four matches at the Henderson State Lady Reddie Classic in Arkadelphia, Ark. Friday and Saturday.
After opening with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-28, 30-28) win against Ouachita Baptist, the Lady Blues fell to nationally-ranked North Alabama 3-0 (30-24, 30-19, 30-17).
On Saturday, Washburn topped College of the Southwest 3-0 (30-15, 30-25, 30-28), before falling to host Henderson State 3-0 (31-29, 30-23, 30-21).
Susan Crooks tallied 47 kills on the weekend, while Jill Gassen added 45 kills. With six solo blocks on the weekend, Gassen broke the career total block record and currently has 178 for her career.
The Lady Blues are back in action 7 p.m. Wednesday night in Lee Arena against arch-rival Emporia State.
