Nov. 9, 2001 The Washburn Lady Blues fell 3-0 (30-12, 30-28, 30-27) to Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Mo. Friday night. The Lady Blues came out cold, hitting -.120 in the opening game before making it competitive in the final two games. Senior Jill Gassen led the way with eight kills and finished her career with a Washburn records of 1732 kills and 181 solo blocks. She also finished second in Washburn history with 549 total blocks. For the season Gassen broke her career best mark with 461, which was also the fifth highest total in team history. Washburn finished the season 12-22 and in seventh in the MIAA with a 5-11 mark.
