The Washburn Lady Blues volleyball team fell 30-19, 30-28, 30-21 to Emporia State in White Auditorium Wednesday night.

The Lady Blues got off to a slow start, while the Hornets took command in the opening game of the match by outhitting the Lady Blues .256 to .077.

Washburn faught back and lead most of the second game, before the Hornets errupted for four straight points to pull ahead and take the game and momentum.

Susan Crooks led Washburn with 13 kills and 13 digs, while Katie Brandt and Jill Gassen tallied nine kills apiece.

The Lady Blues are back in action Friday at the Central Missouri State Invitational at 4:30 when they take on Alabama-Huntsville.
