Lady Blues beat NWMSU in MIAA hope opener

The Washburn Lady Blues got off to a slow start, but rallied back to beat Northwest Missouri State 3-1 (28-30, 30-27, 30-23, 30-20) in their MIAA home opener Wednesday night.

After dropping the opening game, the Lady Blues took game two by taking the last three points of the game to pull even.

Washburn breezed in the final two games, behind Susan Crooks and Jill Gassen, who tallied 16 kills apiece. Katie Brandt added 12 kills, while Jennifer Ackerman dished out 31 assists.

Washburn is back in action in Lee Arena Tuesday Sept. 18 against Fort Hays State at 7 p.m.
