Lady Blues to tune up with Alumni match

The Washburn Lady Blues volleyball team is preparing for its season-opening weekend tomorrow night with a match against former Lady Blues at 7 p.m. in Lee Arena.

The current Lady Blues squad opens the season on Sept. 1 at the St. Ambrose Tournament in Davenport, Iowa with a two-day tournament.

Eight former Lady Blues are returning to the hardwood to take on the 2000 Lady Blues.

Erica Nelson (1991-92)Mandy Chester is the all-time leader in kills at Washburn with 1,613, second in attack attempts with 4,251, second in solo blocks with 159, second in block assists with 360 and second in total blocks with 519. Her .317 hitting percentage is a Lady Blue record for a single season.

Anna Cianciarulo is fourth on the all-time digs list with 1,531 and second on the all-time service aces with 140. Cianciarulo’s 58 service aces during the 1995 season is third for a single season and the top mark for a freshman.

Eileen Canfield is seventh on the all-time digs list with 1,427.

Carla Knight is seventh on the all-time service aces list with 82.

Stacy Wheeler recorded the sixth highest mark for solo blocks in a season with 56. She is fourth on the career list with 130, third on the block assist list with 314 and third on the total blocks chart with 444.
