Blues Open Season 1-3 at Western State College Invitational

The Washburn Volleyball squad started off the 1999 season 1-3 at the Western State College of Colorado Invitational in Gunnison, Colo.
The Lady Blues opened the invitational on Aug. 27 with a five-game win over Texas Woman's University. The scores were 15-8, 15-13, 13-15, 14-16 and 15-12.
The second match of the day was against Cameron University. The Lady Blues fell 10-15, 9-15 and 4-15.
On Saturday, the Lady Blues took on Taylor University. Taylor won the contest 13-15, 10-15, 8-15.
The last match of the Invitational was against Southern Colorado. The Lady Bleus fell 8-15, 9-15, 13-15.
Sophomore Jill Gassen was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Lady Blues will be in action Tuesday night, Aug. 30, against Hastings College in Lee Arena. Match time is at 7 p.m.
