TOPEKA - The top-ranked Washburn Lady Blues shot a sizzling 61.4 percent from the field in a 93-38 victory over Baker Monday night.
Washburn, which shot above 50 percent from the field for the fifth straight game to improve to 5-0, struggled early and held a 12-10 lead with 14:06 left in the first half. The Lady Blues used a 13-0 run to take a 25-10 lead and finished the half on a 32-6 run to make it 44-16 at the break and never looked back.
Jennifer Harris led a group of four Lady Blues in double figures with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Brooke Ubelaker added 19 points, while Bojana Samardziska and Megan Sullivan added 16 and 10 points respectively. WU owned a 47-24 rebounding edge.
Molly Ediger and Emily Etchenbarren had eight points apiece to lead Baker, which fell to 4-4. Allie Heinen added seven points and a team-high four rebounds.
Washburn is back in action 7 p.m. Wednesday night against Oklahoma Panhandle State in Lee Arena.
