Washburn pounds Baker

TOPEKA- The No. 13 Washburn Lady Blues routed Baker University 99-34 in Lee Arena Saturday night. The win gives the Lady Blues their third straight 5-0 start.

The Lady Blues opened the game with a 25-3 lead in the first 10 minutes, including seven points by Lora Westling. Westling finished the half with nine points to help Washburn to a 57-13 lead at the break.

Baker would get no closer in the second half, as Washburn won its fifth straight game by 20 or more points, led by Montoya Whitfield's double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Brooke Ubelaker added 15 points, while Westling finished with 11.

The Lady Blues had a 49-30 rebounding edge and shot 37 of 70 (52.9%) from the field.

The Lady Blues are back in action 7 p.m. Dec. 9 in Lee Arena against Benedictine University.
