The Washburn Lady Blues were ranked No. 13 in the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Division II Top 25 Poll, which was releasedy by the WBCA Friday. The Lady Blues finished the 2002-03 season ranked No. 6 after reaching the Elite Eight with a 30-4 record.

Washburn opened its exhibition season with a 73-51 loss to Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan. Wednesday night. The Lady Blues were led by freshman Brooke Ubelaker's 14 points and junior Lora Westling's 10 points.

The Lady Blues finish the exhibition season 5:30 p.m. Saturday night against the Washburn Alumni squad, before opening the regular season 7 p.m. Nov. 15 against Evangel (Mo.) in Lee Arena. The Alumni squad will feature five seniors off the 2002-03 squad, including first team All-American Crystal Walker.
