WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Washburn Lady Blues won a share of the MIAA regular season title with a 59-57 win over Central Missouri State Saturday afternoon at the CMSU Multipurpose Building.
Washburn, which improved to 24-3 and 15-3 in the MIAA, is the No. 2 seed in the Sonic MIAA Tournament March 4-7 and will face No. 7 seed Pittsburg State 6 p.m. Thursday night in Municipal Auditorium.
Central Missouri State had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but Jena Shackelford's jumper on the left baseline rimmed out.
Montoya Whitfield led the Lady Blues with 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the field, including a 3-pointer. Carla Sintra had nine points and eight rebounds. Bethany Orendorff led CMSU with 21 points.
