ROLLA, Mo. - The No. 5 ranked Waswhburn Lady Blues improved to 12-1 and 3-1 in the MIAA with a 64-53 win over MIssouri-Rolla. The Lady Blues will now travel to take on 11-2 and 4-0 Northwest Missouri who topped Missouri Southern 70-51 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Blues led from start to finish builing a lead as many as 13 in the first half and took a 32-28 halftime lead, much in part to hitting 10 of 14 free throws compared to 4 of 4 for the Lady Blues.
In the second half, the Lady Blues would build a lead as many as 18 in the second half before taking the 11-point win.
The Lady Blues were led by Carla Sintra who scored 15 points. Alison Garrett scored 12 on 4 3-pointers and Montoya Whitfield scored 11 off the bench.
Washburn held UMR to 29 percent field goal shoting while connecting on 44 percent. In the game, UMR finished 23 of 32 from the free throw line while the Lady Blues were 10 of 18. The Lady Blues also forced 20 UMR turnovers. Washburn was rebounded for only the second time this season as the Lady Miners held a 38-32 advantage.
