Feb. 8, 2001
The Washburn Lady Blues put up a valiant effort but fell
just short 55-50 to the Emporia State Lady Hornets in White Auditorium
Wednesday night.
After trailing by as many as 15 points early in the ballgame,

7:47 left to play on Jodi Rausch's 3-point play on a layup. Kristy Chapman
followed with another layup to extend the lead to 46-42.
Emporia State responded quickly with a 6-0 run to take
a 48-46 on Myshka Wilkerson's jumper in the lane with four minutes to
play. Jennifer Butcher's following jumper tied it for Washburn before
Emporia State pulled away down the stretch.
The Lady Hornets hit 5 of 6 free throws to take a 53-48
lead with 15 seconds to play, as the teams traded baskets to finish
the contest.
Emporia State, ranked No. 3 in the NABC National Poll

streak to nine games.

while Crystal Walker added 10. Washburn held the Lady Hornets to a season-low
