April 11, 2001
Washburn Lady Blues head coach Ron McHenry has announced
that Manhattan High School product Ineke Ingram has signed a National
Letter of Intent to play at Washburn.
The 5-11 senior averaged 12.6 points and 6.2 rebounds
for head coach Scott Mall leading the Indians to an 18-3 record. Ingram
was an first team all I-70 selection as well as a member of the Topeka
Capital-Journal’s all class 6A first team.
“We’re excited about signing one of the best
players in the state,” McHenry said. “She is going to be at
the cornerstone of us with our commitment to signing the best in Kansas.
She is a very complete basketball player both offensively and defensively
who has the potential to be one of the top players in the conference.
“She comes from a strong family and high school program
under coach Mall which instilled in Ineke a great work ethic and discipline.
We are ecstatic to have her in our program.”
Ingram joins Lora Westling, a 5-10 guard from Casper,
Wyo. who signed in the early signing period.
The Lady Blues coaching staff would like to sign three
to four more players to sign this season.
