Lady Blues hold off Lady Lions

The Washburn Lady Blues dropped Missouri Southern 48-45 in Lee Arena Saturday night.
Washburn, which went over nine minutes without scoring in one stretch, went up for good 43-42 on Jovanae St. Cyr's layup with 3:33 left in the game.

After Washburn stretched the lead, the Lady Lions cut the margin to 46-45 with under a minute to play. Kristy Chapman put Washburn up by three with a floater in the lane with five seconds to go before Southern missed a final 3-point attempt to tie.

Washburn trailed by as many as eight in the second half but rallied behind Chapman, who netted 19 points and dished out three assists.

The Lady Blues are now 10-8 (4-6 MIAA) and will take on Southwest Baptist 5:30 Saturday night in Lee Arena.
