St. Joseph - After trailing by a point at the half, things
didn't look too bad for the Lady Blues. But in the second half, the
Griffons reved up its high-powered offense en route to a 76-50 win.
It was the fourth straight loss for the Lady Blues.
The No. 15 Griffons went on a 22-6 run to end the game.
After halftime, the Lady Blues were outrebounded in the second half
by 14 in the second half.
Jennifer Butcher led the Lady Blues (11-13, 5-11 MIAA)
with 10 points and six rebounds. Fighting foul trouble in the first
half playing seven minutes, Lady Blues leading scorer Kristy Chapman
scored eight points in the second half after being shutout in the first
half. The Griffons (20-4, 13-3 MIAA) had five in double figures with
Danielle Kneib leading the Griffons with 17 points, 15 of those in the
second half. The Lady Blues were 0-14 from the behind the 3-point line,
the Griffons were 8 of 25.
In the first half, the Lady Blues shot 9 of 26 from the
field, but just as cold, the Griffons were only 6 of 26 with Missouri
Western leading 23-22. No team led by more than six points.
Up next for the Lady Blues is senior night on Wednesday
against Northwest Missouri starting at 5:30 p.m. in Lee Arena. Washburn
seniors Jodi Rausch, Jennifer Butcher and Kelly Antholz will be recognized
between their game and the start of the Ichabods' game.
