Blues win on senior night over Northwest 64-60

The Washburn Lady Blues snapped a four-game losing skid
with a 64-60 victory over Northwest Missouri in Lee Arena Wednesday
night.
Despite shooting only 22 of 71 from the field (31.0%),
the Lady Blues pulled out the victory by outrebounding the Bearcats
53-36. Jennifer Butcher had a career-high 17 boards and scored 13 points
to lead the way.
After going into half tied at 28, Washburn went on a 25-11
run to take a 53-39 lead with 9:39 to play on a jumper by Crystal Walker.
Northwest stormed back behind the 3-point shooting of
Amanda Winter to pull within 58-57 with 2:35 left. Washburn answered
by making key free throws down the stretch.
Kristy Chapman led the Lady Blues with 16 points, while
Sharina Watkins had 11. Winter scored 23, including 17 in the second
half for Northwest.
Washburn will travel to Missouri-Rolla for a 5:45 game
against the Lady Miners.
