The Lady Blues busted out of their scoring slump putting
73 on the board in a 73-67 win over the Lady Miners of Missouri-Rolla.
The Lady Blues are the No. 6 seed in the MIAA Tournament that starts
Tuesday and they will travel to St. Joseph to take on the No. 3 seed,
Missouri Western.
The Lady Blues (13-13, 7-11 MIAA) would fall behind early
at 11-6, but a 23-4 run over nine minutes would put Washburn up by 14
at 29-15. But not to be outdone, the Lady Miners would go on a run of
their own cutting the Lady Blues' lead to one at 29-28, a 13-0 swing.
But the Lady Blues would lead at the break 32-28 on Linsey Moddelmog's
3-pointer with under a minute remaining in the half. Moddelmog hit three
3-pointers on the evening tallying a career high 13 points.
In the second half the Lady Blues would never trail building
its lead to 15.
Crystal Walker paced the Lady Blues with a career high
23 points. Kristy Chapman scored 11 as well as Jodi Rausch.
