Lady Blues sign first recruit of signing period

Ron McHenry, Washburn head basketball coach has announced Lora Westling has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Lady Blues next season.

Westling, a 5-10 guard, from Casper, Wyo., averaged 13 points, five rebounds and four assists last season for Natrona County High School, who has won back-to-back state championships. Last season’s squad finished 24-6.

“Lora has the athletic ability, the skill and great knowledge of the game,” McHenry said. “She could be a big factor for us right away next season. She knows how to win.”

Westling hit 40 percent of her 3-point attempts and shot 46 percent from the field. A multi-talented athlete, Westling played is starting her fourth season of basketball, a member of Natrona’s state champion soccer team, two seasons of volleyball and placed third in the state in singles tennis.
