Blues top GoldStar in exhibition tilt

TOPEKA The No. 16 ranked Washburn Lady Blues opened their season
with a 101-56 exhibition victory over St. Louis Goldstar in Lee Arena
Saturday night.
Washburn opened the first half on fire, as Carissa Goeglein
made her first seven shots to help Washburn to a 52-23 halftime lead.
Preseason All-American Crystal Walker also helped Washburn
dominate the paint, pouring in 15 points with 10 rebounds and six assists.
She also added two steals.
Ineke Ingram and Maggie Diehl each added 12 points of
the bench for the Lady Blues, who were picked second in the conference
by MIAA coaches earlier this week.
Washburn is back in action with its regular season home
opener against Baker 5:30 p.m. Nov. 23.
