OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Crystal Walker, a 6-foot senior forward from Osawatomie, Kan., was named Wilson/MIAA Basketball Player of the Week Monday, averaging 17.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three victories.

Walker scored 10 points and added six rebounds and four assists in Washburn's 81-43 win over Saint Mary College on Dec. 2 in 20 minutes of action.

She followed that with a Most Valuable Player perfomance in the Drury T.J. Sales Winter Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Walker helped Washburn top host Drury 79-73 by netting 24 points (two shy of her career high 26) and adding nine rebounds and three assists. She hit a 30-foot jumper at the buzzer to give Washburn a 41-31 lead at the half.

Her 19-point and seven rebound performance fueled Washburn's 64-54 victory over Cameron Saturday night. Walker scored 8 of Washburn's final 14 points to help break open a tight ballgame late.

Walker earned MIAA Player of the Week honors three times last season en route to MIAA Most Valuable Player honors.
