MARYVILLE, MO - The No. 4 Washburn Lady Blues improved to 14-0 and 5-0
with their 72-58 win over Northwest Missouri.
The Lady Blues jumped out to a 24-12 after the first 12
minutes of the game and would eventually lead by 16 before the break
taking a 40-27 lead into halftime. The Lady Blues shot 48 percent in
the second half hitting 5 of 11 3-pointers and forcing 14 Bearcat turnvoers.
In the second half, the Bearcats would cut the lead to
10 at 46-36 with 13:42 left, but the Lady Blues would go on a 16-5 run
over the next four minutes to put the game away.
Crystal Walker led four Lady Blues in double figures with
19 points. Kristy Chapman scored 18, Carissa Goeglein scored 17 and
Bethany McGraw scored 11. The Lady Blues tied a school record for the
second straight game with nine 3-pointers in the contest.
Up next for the Lady Blues will be the Central Missouri
State University Jennies at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in Lee Arena.
