The Washburn Lady Blues topped MidAmerica Nazarene 79-51
in Lee Arena Tuesday night.
Despite committing 16 turnovers and shooting 30 of 76
from the field (39.5%), Washburn opened a 40-23 lead to end the first
half behind 10 straight points on four baskets by Kristy Chapman.
The Lady Pioneers pulled within 44-36 with 13:32 left,
before Washburn responded 16-5 run to pull away with six minutes left.
Alison Garrett came off the bench to hit three straight
3-pointers to finish the game, including two in the final 50 seconds.
Chapman finished with 20 points, while Crystal Walker added 14 and Carissa
Goeglein 11 for the Lady Blues. Jovanae St. Cyr added a team-high 10
rebounds and seven points, including eight rebounds in the victory.
Washburn is back in action Monday night 5:30 at Missouri-St.
Louis.
