Washburn survives Drury run

The Washburn Lady Blues survived a scare with a 68-65 overtime victory against Drury University in Lee Arena Saturday night.

Leading by as many as 17 in the second half, Washburn surrendered the lead and a 23-4 run when Drury's Stacy West made a basket to pull the Lady Panthers ahead 51-49 with 4:13 left.

The two squads traded points down the stretch to send the game to overtime, before Carrie Colwell hit two baskets to give Drury a 64-59 lead in overtime.Washburn countered with seven straight points and sealed the victory on Crystal Walker's free throws with three seconds left.

Walker led the Lady Blues with 23 points, while Carissa Goeglein and Kristy Chapman added 17 and 12 respectively.
