The Washburn Lady Blues rallied but fell short 69-67 to
No. 5 Missouri Western in Lee Arena Wednesday night.
After trailing 62-51 with eight minutes left, Washburn
pulled within 68-67 on Crystal Walker's layup with 42 seconds left.
After a Griffon missed shot, the Lady Blues had a chance
to take the lead with just seconds remaining but Kristy Chapman's shot
fell off hard.
The Lady Blues had four starters in double figures led
by Chapman and Carissa Goeglein who had 14 apiece. Nicole Lindsey led
Missouri Western with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Blues, now No. 6 in the South Central Region,
are 7-2 (0-1 MIAA) heading into a 1:30 MIAA contest at Truman State
Saturday.
