The Washburn Lady Blues topped Missouri Southern 77-55
in Lee Arena for their first MIAA victory Monday night.
After the Lady Lions opened with the first four points,
Washburn went on a 17-0 run to grab a big lead on Crystal Walker's layup.
Washburn continued the run to take an early 24-8 lead.
The Lady Blues took a 36-21 lead into the half, as Southern never pulled
within 12 in the second half.
Crystal Walker notched her fifth double-double of the
season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Jovanae St. Cyr and Carissa
Goeglein added 13 and 12 respectively.
Maggie Diehl netted a career-high 10 points in 13 minutes
off the bench for Washburn, which avoided the team's first 0-3 start
in MIAA history.
