The Washburn Lady Blues (9-3, 2-2 MIAA) snapped a longstanding
road losing skid in Bolivar, Mo. with a convincing 85-53 victory over
Southwest Baptist Thursday night.
The win was Washburn's first over the Lady Bearcats in
Bolivar since Jan. 11, 1992, snapping a 7-game skid over that span on
the road in the series.
After leading 38-31 at the half, Washburn traded baskets
with the Lady Bearcats before errupting with 18 minutes left.
The Lady Blues went on a 25-0 run on Lora Westling's spinning
layup to take a 67-35 lead and never looked back.
Carissa Goeglein finished the game with a career-high
25 points and eight rebounds, while Crystal Walker added 14 points.
Westling added 10 points and five assists off the bench
for the Lady Blues, who capped their largest MIAA victory since a 90-52
win at Missouri-Rolla Feb. 13, 1999.
Washburn is back in action 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Missouri-Rolla.
