ROLLA, MO. - The Washburn Lady Blues improved to 10-3
and 3-2 in the MIAA with a 66-61 win over the University of Missouri-Rolla
Miners.
Despite committing a season high 26 turnovers, the Lady
Blues forced the Lady Miners into 27 turnovers and a 37 percent field
goal percetage in the 5-point win.
The Lady Blues trailed at halftime for the first time
this season 33-32, but took the lead for good at 40-38 at the 15:10
mark on a jumper by Carissa Goeglein. The Lady Blues would build their
lead to as many as eight, but the Lady Miners would battle back to tie
the score at 54 before Washburn would pull back away for the win.
Crystal Walker led the Lady Blues with her sixth double
double of the season and eighth of her career with 19 points and 10
rebounds. Goeglein had 18 following up her career high 25 against Southwest
Baptist last time out.
The Lady Blues will host Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday
night at 5:30 in Lee Arena.
