TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues improved to 11-3 (4-2
MIAA) for the first time since 1993-94 with a 77-65 win over Northwest
Missouri State in Lee Arena Wednesday night.
The game was tied at the half 35 apiece, before Washburn
staged one of its trademark runs in the second half. The Lady Blues
capped a 12-0 run to make it 59-45 at the 10 minute mark on Maggie Diehl's
layup.
The run was the eighth time during the season that Washburn
has scored at least 10 straight points during a game. Northwest never
go within 10 points the remainder of the game.
Kristy Chapman led the way for Washburn with 14 points,
including two 3-pointers, while Diehl added a career-high 13 points
off the bench. Jovanae St. Cyr added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Washburn is back in action 5:30 Saturday night in the
CMSU Mulitpurpose Building against Central Missouri State in Warrensburg,
Mo.
