WARRENSBURG, Mo.- The Washburn Lady Blues couldn't get
it going offensively, falling 58-51 at Central Missouri State Saturday
night.
Washburn took an early 9-3 lead but faltered late to finish
17 of 60 (28.3%), which was a season low shooting percentage. The Lady
Blues were 7 of 28 (25.0%) percent in the second half after trailing
34-32 at the half.
The Jennies led by as many as eight in the second half,
before Washburn made one final push. Consecutive layups by Jovanae St.
Cyr and Crystal Walker pulled Washburn within 54-51 with 54 seconds
left.
CMSU connected on four free throws in the final seconds
to pull away from Washburn and give the Jennies their fourth straight
victory over Washburn in Warrensburg.
Crystal Walker was the only player in double figures with
16 points and nine rebounds. Washburn is back in action 5:30 Wednesday
against arch-rival Emporia State in Lee Arena. Emporia State has won
nine straight against the Lady Blues.
