TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues won a fourth-straight
MIAA contest with a 63-50 victory over Missouri-Rolla Saturday night.
The Lady Blues opened quickly, taking a 12-4 lead early
on Crystal Walker's layup just four minutes into the game. Washburn
continued its first half dominance with a 9-0 run to take a 26-9 lead,
before taking a 34-17 lead at the half.
The Lady Blues had another run by scoring 11 straight
to make it 51-25 with 11:09 left on Jovanae St. Cyr's break layup. The
Lady Miners rallied but couldn't get within single digits the rest of
the game to lose their 17th straight game.
Carissa Goeglein led the way with 14 points, while Walker
and St. Cyr added 13 and 12 points respectively for the Lady Blues.
The victory was Washburn's fifth straight in Lee Arena.
The Lady Blues are back in action 5:30 Wednesday night
at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo.
