MARYVILLE, MO - The Washburn Lady Blues used a big second
half surge to break a halftime tie and turn in a 72-49 win on the road
over Northwest Missouri. It was the fifth straight MIAA win for the
Lady Blues, who moved into second place in the MIAA race.
The Lady Blues (18-5, 11-4) and Bearcats were tied at
30 with Washburn shooting only 30 percent hitting 9 of their first 30
shots. But in the second half the Lady Blues scorched the nets for a
47 percent clip hitting 14 of 30 shots.
Carissa Goeglein scored 22 points while pulling down 11
rebounds. Kristy Chapman scored 14 and Crystal Walker scored 13. The
Lady Blues held the Bearcats to 23 percent shooting in the second half
allowing six field goals.
Up next for the Lady Blues is Central Missouri State University
