TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues sent their senior class
out right with a 94-85 victory over Central Missouri State in Lee Arena
on Senior Night Saturday.
Washburn ranked No. 6 in the South Central Region, pulled
ahead 15-6 early on Maggie Diehl's layup just six minutes into the game.
After Latasha Moore scored eight straight points in her first two minutes
on the floor, Washburn led 29-12, before Central pulled within 48-35
at the half.
Central Missouri, ranked No. 7 in the region, got within
six early in the second half, but Washburn pulled away behind Crystal
Walker's 12 points and eight rebounds in the half.
With the win, Washburn avenged an earlier loss this season
to the Jennies and won its sixth straight MIAA game for the first time
since Feb 25, 1995. The win also assured Washburn at least a share of
second in the conference. Washburn's 94-point total was also the most

Walker finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while
Carissa Goeglein led a group of five other Lady Blues in double figures
with 14 points.
Washburn is back in action 5:30 Wednesday night at arch-rival
Emporia State.
