Using a 14-3 run over the last 5:18 in the second half, Washburn won its eighth straight game and pushed its record to 21-5 Saturday night, as it heads into the MIAA Conference Championship tournament.

The Gorillas led Washburn at the half 32-31, but the Lady Blues held Pitt State to just seven field goals in the second half.

Crystal Walker notched her third straight game with at least 20 points, scoring a game-high 21. Her performance moves Walker behind Jodi Rausch on the Lady Blues all-time scoring list. Walker was 9-of-17 from the field and also grabbed six rebounds.

Carissa Goeglein was the only other Lady Blue to reach double figures with 10.

The Lady Blues recent success at the freethrow line continued as they connected on 16-of-21 attempts.

The #2 seed Lady Blues open MIAA Tournament play at Lee Arena on Monday at 7 pm against #7 seed Southwest Baptist. It is the first time the Lady Blues will have hosted a MIAA Tournament game since the 1997 season.
