named MIAA Player of the Week

Washburn forward Crystal Walker, a 6-foot junior from
Osawatomie, Kan., was named MIAA Player of the Week Monday evening,
averaging 17.3 points and 9.3 rebounds to help the Lady Blues to a 3-0
mark for the week.
In the UNK Thanksgiving Classic in Kearney, Neb., Walker
opened the tournament with career highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds
against Bemidji State Friday night. She recorded her third straight
double-double to open the season.
She followed with a 15-point performance and hit the
game winning shot with 2.5 seconds left in WashburnÍs 46-45 victory
over host Nebraska-Kearney Saturday night. The victory snapped UNKÍs
NCAA Division II record 87-game home-court winning streak.
Walker finished the tournament with a 20.0 point and
9.0 rebound average to earn UNK Thanksgiving Classic Most Valuable Player
honors.
In WashburnÍs first game of the week Walker scored 12
points and grabbed 10 rebounds in only 23 minutes of action in WashburnÍs
92-50 victory over Baker Tuesday night in Lee Arena.
Washburn, which is now 4-0 for the first time since the
1997-98 season, hosts 3-4 MidAmerica Nazarene tonight at 5:30 in Lee
Arena.
