Blues ink Erica Redman in late signing period

Washburn Lady Blues head basketball coach Ron McHenry
has announced the signing of Independence, Kan. guard Erica Redman to
a national letter of intent Wednesday morning.
Redman, a 5-6 guard, averaged 21.5 points and 4.7 rebounds
a game for Independence High, which finished the season 21-3 and earned
a trip the the 4A state tournament. She hit 59 of 154 (38.3%) from beyond
the 3-point arc and averaged 4.2 steals a game for the Lady Bulldogs.
ñErica is an excellent scorer from the perimeter and
is athletic enough to make plays from the two spot,î said McHenry. ñErica
had a great senior season and helped (Independence High) to its first
state appearance since 1995. She will be a nice addition to our program.î
Redman earned Topeka Capital Journal first team Class
4A all-state honors and third team all-class honors. She finished her
basketball career with unanimous All-SEK League honors in four seasons,
all-state honors three seasons and was named all-area Most Valuable
Player four seasons for the Lady Bulldogs.
She also participated in volleyball and track, earning
all-league honors three seasons in volleyball and placing third in the
100 meter dash in the state track meet.
Redman becomes the fourth player to sign with the Lady
Blues for next season. Seaman HighÍs Rebekah Mueller, OsborneÍs April
Roadhouse and Baileyville B&BÍs Jill Heiman each signed a letters of
intent in the fall signing period for the Lady Blues.
