Washburn Lady Blues head basketball coach Ron McHenry has announced the signing of Osborne guard April Roadhouse to a national basketball letter of intent Thursday afternoon.

Roadhouse earned first team all-league and first team all-class Hays Daily News all-state honors last season as a junior, averaging 10 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 4.5 steals a game for the Bulldogs.

She also earned third team Topeka Capital Journal Class 2A all-state honors the past two seasons and was Kansas Sports MagazineÍs all-class leader in assists each of her first three seasons. Osborne won the state championship in 1999-2000, before Garden Plain ended the squadÍs 51 game winning streak in the 2A state championship last season.

"April is a well rounded player with a complete game; she is a very good athlete who plays with a ton of energy," said McHenry. "April has played in a big-time winning program and knows what it takes to win." Roadhouse also participated in track and volleyball at Osborne.

She won the Class 2A state title in the 400 and 800 meter dash in track her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Roadhouse becomes the second player to sign during the early period for Washburn after (Topeka) Seaman HighÍs Rebekah Mueller signed a letter of intent yesterday for the Lady Blues.
