Washburn LogoLady Blues No. 1 in DII WBCA Preseason Poll

The Washburn women's basketball team, which won the NCAA Division II national title with a 35-2 record in 2005, was ranked No. 1 in the WBCA Division II Top 25 Poll released Tuesday.

Washburn, which returns three starters from last season's squad and is also the preseason favorite in the MIAA Poll, will host UMKC in an exhibition 4 p.m. Sunday in Lee Arena. Washburn opens the regular season at the MSSU Pizza Hut/Fairfield Inn Classic in Joplin, Mo. 5 p.m. Nov. 18 against Central Oklahoma.
