TOPEKA -- The No. 1 ranked Washburn Lady Blues won its 33rd consecutive game tying a MIAA record and Jennifer Harris scored 22 of her 39 points in the second half setting a new Washburn and Lee Arena scoring record in the Lady Blues' 84-71 win over Northwest Missouri. Washburn will now try to break the MIAA's consecutive win record next Wednesday at Emporia State on Jan. 11.

Washburn led from start to finish opening a lead as many as 16 in the first half on a 3-pointer by Harris at the 4:20 mark taking the Lady Blues to a 39-23 lead. Washburn would go on to take a 41-29 advantage into halftime. Washburn shot 52 percent in the first half hitting 16 of 31 shots from the field while holding Northwest to 43 percent shooting.

In the second half, Washburn pushed the lead to as many as 18 on three occassions before the Bearcats would cut the lead to three at 67-64, but the Lady Blues would go on a 12-2 run with Harris scoring seven in the run as Washburn would go on for the victory.

Harris' 39 points snapped Laura Mueller's record of 38 points set against Missouri-St. Louis in 1991 and Harris' tally also set a Lee Arena individual record breaking Brenda Shaffer-Dahl's 35 set against Truman State on Nov. 25, 1989.

Also in double figures for Washburn was Cindy Keeley who scored a new career-high with 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the field.

Mandi Schumacher led the Bearcats with 18 points hitting 8 of 12 attempts from the field.

Washburn outrebounded the Bearcats 34 to 30 and outshot the Bearcats 52 percent to 47 percent.
