TOPEKA - The No. 1 ranked Washburn Lady Blues won its 10th straight game over Pittsburg State with a 74-54 win in Lee Arena. Washburn won its 36th game in a row and 32nd in Lee Arena while improving to 17-0 overall and 6-0 in the MIAA. The Lady Blues will now face Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo. - the site of the team's last defeat 364 days ago dating back to last season on Jan. 21, 2005 when the Lions topped the then No. 2 ranked Lady Blues 53-50.

The Lady Blues led from start to finish building a first half lead as many as 13 on two separate occasions. Neither team shot well from the field in the opening stanza as Washburn was 11 of 29 for 38 percent in the half and the Gorillas were 9 of 27 for 33 percent as Washburn took a 33-23 lead into the break.

In the second half, Pitt State (9-8, 2-4 MIAA) cut the lead to seven at 39-32 with 17:39 remaining, but Megan Sullivan hit six straight free throws over the next 1:28 to push the lead back to 13 at 45-32. After Pitt State cut the lead back to single digits to nine at 45-36, April Roadhouse scored six straight points with two blocks and a steal inside of :50 seconds and the Gorillas would not get any closer than 10 the rest of the way as Pitt State was held without a field goal in the second half for the last 8:48 of the game.

Washburn was led by Jennifer Harris who led four Lady Blues in double figures with 16 points. Brooke Ubelaker scored 13, Sullivan had 12 and Roadhouse finished with 11.

The Gorillas were led by Tracy Patry who scored 14.
